Laboratory Automation Technologies

Choose the Technology Around the Workflow

The right laboratory automation system depends on what the process needs to accomplish, the samples and consumables involved, required throughput, compatible instruments, and how the workflow may need to expand.

Practical Innovation

Innovation That Solves a Workflow Problem

At Velsson, laboratory automation innovation starts with the work that needs to be done. We develop and combine technologies to reduce manual steps, improve sample handling, connect compatible instruments, and create systems that can adapt as laboratory requirements change.

The point is to make the laboratory workflow work more consistently from one step to the next.

Velsson INNOSMART D8 automated liquid handler for laboratory automation

Liquid Handling Automation

INNOSMART® D8

Flexible 8-Channel Fluid Workstation

The INNOSMART D8 is a configurable liquid handling workstation for automated pipetting, liquid transfer, sample preparation, and plate-based laboratory workflows.

Independent channel spacing, liquid detection and tracking, robotic consumable handling, and editable workflows make the D8 suitable for applications that need more flexibility than a fixed pipetting process.

  • Eight-channel liquid handling architecture
  • 1–1,000 µL pipetting range
  • Independent and adjustable channel spacing
  • Automatic liquid detection and tracking
  • Robotic consumable transfer
  • Configurable workflows and compatible instrument integration

Integrated Fluid Systems

When One Automated Step Isn’t Enough

Velsson integrated fluid systems can combine liquid handling with robotic movement, sample processing, consumable handling, and compatible laboratory technologies within a configurable workstation.

Velsson INNOSMART SFS-Plus integrated laboratory automation system
Smart Fluid Station

INNOSMART® SFS-Plus

A high-throughput fluid handling platform that combines pipetting, liquid distribution, pumping, robotic consumable transfer, and configurable process units.

Optional units can extend the system into sample preparation and connect it with compatible incubation, processing, and analytical technologies.

Velsson INNOSMART MFS multi-functional fluid system for automated sample preparation
Multi-Functional System

INNOSMART® MFS

A modular automation platform for connecting sample preparation with liquid handling, filtration, purification, temperature-controlled processing, and compatible analytical technologies.

MFS configurations can be developed around the process rather than requiring the laboratory to fit every application into one fixed instrument layout.

Incubation & Cell Culture Automation

Control the Culture Environment and the Handoffs Around It

Velsson incubation systems support controlled culture environments for plates, tubes, and flasks, with options ranging from focused incubation to automated culture workflows involving sample movement, monitoring, and surrounding laboratory processes.

MONOCLONE can also be connected with incubation technologies such as INNOSHAKER SATELLITE and PULSAR to extend automation from selection into cultivation and expansion.

Integrated Laboratory Automation

The Instrument Is Only One Part of the Automation

A working automation system has to account for samples, consumables, equipment, physical movement, software, data, and the people using the process.

1

Liquid & Sample Handling

Pipetting, dispensing, mixing, dilution, sample transfer, plate handling, and other repeated physical processes.

2

Robotics & Movement

Coordinate samples, consumables, grippers, transfer modules, instruments, and automated handoffs.

3

Compatible Instruments

Evaluate existing or new equipment based on available interfaces, communication protocols, physical requirements, and workflow needs.

4

Software & Data

Coordinate workflow logic, instrument communication, process monitoring, data capture, and system operation.

Configuration and availability: Velsson automation systems are configured around the requirements of each workflow. Instrument configurations, optional modules, integration options, and current availability should be confirmed with the Velsson team for each project.
